Janos Di-Fanteria is the creator of the ORSUS universe, a series of historical thrillers spanning three thousand years of hidden history. A former British Army officer, he combines meticulous historical research with cinematic storytelling to explore loyalty, sacrifice and the enduring consequences of human conflict.
Associated with the Army from 1983, he completed the Potential Officers Course with the Parachute Regiment before attending the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
He was commissioned into The King's Regiment and served in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, the Falkland Islands, London and Cyprus before leaving the Army in 1999.
He began writing in 2002 and completed the opening chapters of what would eventually become the ORSUS series. Other commitments intervened, and the project remained unfinished for more than twenty years. Following his wife's death in 2022, he returned to writing. What began as a means of navigating loss became a renewed sense of purpose and the completion of a story long left untold. Now living in Staffordshire with his two children, he published his first novel in 2024.
Drawing on a military background and a lifelong interest in history, his work explores loyalty, sacrifice, power and the enduring consequences of human conflict.
Today, through the ORSUS Reading Room, the Discovery Series, Fireside Chats and historical broadcasts, Janos continues to expand the ORSUS universe, exploring new ways of bringing history, literature and emerging filmmaking technology together for readers around the world.
